Warne Decides Against Appeal
Wednesday, February 26 2003Shane Warne has today revealed to the ACB that he will not appeal his 1-year ban from all forms of cricket.
Warne released a statement today stating his intention not to appeal and again outlining his disappointment at the suspension of his cricketing career.
“I have made a simple and innocent error of judgement I take full responsibility for my own actions and yes I should have checked with someone, I should have known better.” – a segment from Shane Warne’s statement today.
Warne also made public yesterday that it was not the first time he had taken a banned diuretic tablet.
He revealed that past drug in December had revealed small traces of the banned substance.
The Victorian leg-spinner then described himself as ‘silly and vein’.
Meanwhile, the judiciary of the Warne panel have released their views on the case, branding Warne’s argument as ‘vague, unsatisfactory and inconsistent’.
The committee has stated that they did not believe all of the 491-Test wicket veteran’s answers were entirely truthful in the area of the anti-doping policy.
They also attacked Warne’s much-criticised mother Brigitte’s evidence that was given during the hearing.
Warne will see out his 12-month ban and will be available towards the end of Australia’s next domestic summer for all forms of cricket.
