Pura Cup: Qld vs Vic
Sunday, March 2 2003Queensland have hammered Victoria to earn the right to host the 2002/03 Pura Cup Final at the Gabba.
Darren Berry won the toss for the Bushrangers and invited Queensland to bat, making 349 in their first innings.
Clinton Perren continued his fine run of form, making 136, while Ashley Noffke and Wade Seccombe contributed 67* and 40 respectively.
For the Victorians, left-arm seamer Mathew Inness took 5/61 in an impressive display of bowling.
Victoria then made just 159 in their first innings, with David Hussey’s 62 being the only innings of note in the total.
For Queensland, former Test paceman Michael Kasprowicz took 5/50 while Adam Dale took 3/30.
Following on, the Bushrangers made just 229, with Jon Moss top-scoring with 66 and Darren Berry blasting 46.
Ashley Noffke took 3/43 and Joe Dawes 3/53 for the Bulls.
Queensland then chased down the remaining 40 runs for outright points losing just Brendon Nash to Shane Harwood on the way.
