Cricket’s answer to the Harlem Globetrotters, Lashing Cricket Club, is chasing the signature of Shane Warne.
Warne, currently serving a drug ban, was approach by the Kent-based club through his manager.
Should he be allowed to play in the matches, he is certain to put his hand up and play for the club.
However, early indications from Cricket Australia (formerly the Australian Cricket Board) suggest that he will not be able to play.
Meanwhile, Australia’s leading Test wicket-taker has been in South Africa, but not for the World Cup.
He has been in the republic fulfilling public speaking engagements.
