Australian Test captain Steve Waugh has ended months of speculation about his future by quietly announcing his decision to remain available for Australian selection.
Waugh informed Queensland media manager Stephen Gray of his decision, inviting him to tell the press.
The incumbent Test captain has spoken to Australian chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns to inform him of his decision.
Waugh had kept selectors, public and family alike guessing to his playing future following his quiet stance on the issue following the Sydney Test.
He made a memorable 102 on the back of a wave of emotions from his home crowd.
The 15-man squad for the tour to the West Indies will be announced following the conclusion of the Pura Cup Final.
