Pura Cup: SA vs Tas

South Australia have gained a consolation win against Tasmania in their final Pura Cup match of the year.

South Australia amassed 6/500 in their first innings, with David Fitzgerald making 147, Mark Higgs 112*, Greg Blewett 88, Shane Deitz 57 and Ben Johnson pitching in with 41.

For the Tigers, promising left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty took 3/161.

Tasmania then made 276 in their first innings, with Michael Di Venuto top scoring with 81, while Doherty made 52 and Sean Clingeleffer 50.

For the South Australians, Shaun Tait took 5/68 to claim his maiden first-class 5-wicket haul, while Mark Cleary finished with 3/55.

The Tigers were then forced to follow on, with Di Venuto making 82 and in-form all-rounder Dan Marsh finishing his successful summer with 58 in Tasmania’s total of 264.

Paul Rofe took 3/41 in an economical spell for the Redbacks, while Tait, Brad Young and Mark Higgs took 2 wickets each.

The Redbacks then successfully chased down their 41 run target, with Tasmania’s find of the summer Adam Griffith finishing his year with 2 wickets.
