Womens State League final

Auckland Women and Canterbury Women will play against each other in the State League final this weekend at Redwood Park in Christchurch.

Canterbury topped the table with 36 points after only one loss in the round robin play and one no result. They have just come off two wins against bottom placed Northern Districts over the weekend but not without there problems. In the first match Canterbury were skittled for 150 when they lost their last 8 wickets for just 17 runs.

Auckland only scraped in by one point to Wellington after 3 losses and one no result. Auckland played Wellington on Monday and Tuesday and the bonus point that they got
in the first up win ended up to be crucial as they lost the next game.

When the two teams met earlier in the year at the same venue Canterbury came out on top in both back to back games.

Since then Canterbury have lost English International player Claire Taylor who has now joined her team to contest the Women's Ashes in Australia. She look the difference in the teams with 104 runs in the 2 matches.

Auckland look to have there own problems though with 17 year old inform batter Rosamond Kember injuring her leg in there last match loss. She batted with a runner and did not take to the field.

The match sees 7 white ferns playing and also another 4 NZ'A' Players.
