Chris Cairns Assaulted

Chris Cairns was celebrating that he was going to be a father for the second time when he was knocked unconscious for nearly two minutes outside a South African nightclub.

Reports have said Cairns, captain Stephen Fleming, Andre Adams, Scott Styris, Daniel Vettori and Brendon McCullum took their shirts off which was against club rules while performing a haka on the dance floor.

Cairns was then asked to leave by bar staff and was hit outside the night club knocking him unconscious. Security guards who have been employed to protect the team then quickly bundled the players into cars taking them back to the hotel.

South African police have said they were not investigating the matter as no formal charges had been laid by either party.
