Stars To Miss Tri Series

Wednesday, April 2 2003

Indian batting stars, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid are both staying home and not touring Bangladesh for a tri series which also involves South Africa.

Tendulkar and Dravid both are carrying finger injuries, and both need time to recover. Young left arm quick bowler Ashish Nehra also misses out on the event, due to an ankle injury which needs to be operated on.

This opens new doors for the stars of the India 'A' tour to the West Indies. Prolific Delhi openers Gautam Gambhir and Akash Chopra have an opportunity to represent India, while new fast bowling prodigy Aavishkar Salvi also has a chance sharing the new ball with Zaheer Khan.

Javagal Srinath also has made it clear that he does not want to tour Bangladesh at this time. The Indian's have had a extremely hectic International schedule, and all experienced players concerned would ideally want a break.

All Rounders Ajit Agarkar and Sanjay Bangar will also want to make their mark on a strong Indian squad, while young wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel also would love to impress the selectors as a long term choice in both forms of the game.

The selection commitee decides on the squad on April 2nd.
