McGrath Comes Home
Thursday, April 3 2003Australian pace bowling spearhead Glenn McGrath has returned home from the tour of the West Indies to be by the side of his ill wife Jane.
McGrath looks certain to miss at least the first Test of the tour, if not the whole tour.
However, at times like these one must remember cricket is not everything in McGrath's life and he has returned home to Australia to be with his sick wife.
Jane McGrath has been diagnosed with a secondary cancer condition in the hip, following her first bout of cancer more than 5 years ago. A full recovery is expected.
Best wishes are sent to McGrath and his family at this time.
Brad Williams has been called up to replace McGrath indefinitely, and also to cover for World Cup injury victim Jason Gillespie.
Damien Martyn will also arrive late on the tour due to his broken finger, leaving Australia short of 2 of the game's best exponents.
