Whatmore loses SL job

Sri Lanka's 1996 World Cup Winning coach, Australian international Dav Whatmore, will not have his contract renewed by the BCCSL when it expires at the end of next month.
"The reason is that Mr Whatmore has been with Sri Lanka cricket since 1995 and the interim committee felt there should be a change after such a long association", said a Board spokesman.
Whatmore, who has also coached Lancashire, is in his second spell in charge of the Sri Lankans, having been re-appointed following the 1999 "failure". Sri Lanka made the semi-finals of the 2003 competition.
