BCCI To Extend Wright's Term
Thursday, April 10 2003The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) spearheaded by Indian cricket supremo Jagmohan Dalmiya, have agreed to extend New Zealand born coach John Wright's contract with the Indian team.
Wright took over from Kapil Dev in November 2000, and has led India to many impressive victories, including the NatWest Series victory, being joint winners in the ICC Champions Trophy, and a World Cup finals berth against Australia.
Also having their contracts extended are renowned fitnes guru Adrian Le Roux, and one of the best physios in World Cricket, Australian resident Andrew Leipus. Leipus and Le Roux have been acclaimed for turning a traditionally lazy and lethargic Indian squad into a world class fielding and fitness unit.
The trio will have their contracts extended by one year, and an evaluation based on team performance will follow to determine their future. This comes as good news to many Indian fans, as they feel that the trio have reshaped Indian Cricket for the better.
