Anderson Returns for Trent Bridge
Wednesday, June 9 2004Lancashire seamer James Anderson has been added to England's squad for the final Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
Anderson, who played the last of his 8 Tests in December 2003, missed the Headingly match due to a bruised foot. Scans today revealed that no further damage had been done.
Released from England's 12-man squad is Paul Collingwood, who will now line up for Durham in the county championship to gain some match practice before the ODI series, where he will be a key cog in the England wheel.
Martin Saggers - a late replacement for the injured Anderson in the squad for the second Test - retains his place in the 12. The duo are expected to be locked in a battle for the final place in the starting XI.
