New Zealand get first tour victory
Wednesday, June 2 2004New Zealand have beaten Leicestershire by 328 runs in their four day warmup game before the second test.
Daniel Vettori was the star of the match taking 4/60 in the first innings and 5/92 in the 2nd.
The New Zealand batsman made handy contributions with the bat, apart from Scott Styris who continues to struggle in English conditions with scores of 2 and 13.
Gareth Hopkins in New Zealand colours for the first time had a good all round game making 71 with the bat and being tidy behind the stumps.
Craig McMillan broke his thumb yet again and is in serious doubt for the second test starting this Thursday with Matthew Sinclair being brought it as cover.
