Black Caps Call Reinforcements
Thursday, June 10 2004James Franklin and Mathew Sinclair have been added to the New Zealand Test squad for the final Test match against England at Trent Bridge.
The pair join the squad as cover for the walking wounded in Michael Papps, Craig McMillan, Jacob Oram and Daniel Vettori, as well as the homeward bound Shane Bond.
While McMillan and Oram loom as likely starters in the match, Vettori's torn hamstring has ruled him out while Papps will almost certainly follow due to a broken knuckle.
The inclusion of Franklin offers much-needed variety to an attack that has largely struggled throughout the tour. Daryl Tuffey has lacked his usual fitness while Chris Martin's time with the Dukes ball has been less than pleasing.
Meanwhile, Ian Butler has been recalled to the New Zealand squad as a replacement for the injured Shane Bond in the NatWest Series.
The Black Caps camp gave up hope of Bond returning in the ODI's, preferring for him to rehabilitate back in New Zealand.
