Ervine announces retirement
Saturday, May 15 2004Zimbabwean all-rounder Sean Ervine, one of the fifteen rebel players who have been sacked by the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU), has announced his retirement from international cricket.
As reported here yesterday, Ervine left Zimbabwe for Australia, without letting any one know if and when he would return, arousing suspicion of a possible retirement.
Vince Hogg, the chief executive of the ZCU, has confirmed today that he received a letter from Ervine, before he left the country, saying he was officially retiring.
Ervine played for Zimbabwe in five Tests and 42 One-Day Internationals, with a well-made 100 against India in the VB Series last season nearly pulling off an incredible run chase, as a major spotlight of his career.
