Pothas keeps Hampshire on track
Sunday, May 9 2004County Championship Division 2
Day 2 - 8th May 2004
Durham 339 (Muchall 94, Kaneria 3 for 83)
Essex 6 for 0
Only four and a half overs were possible today, which was enough for Essex to claim the final Durham wicket, but not much else.
Hampshire 399 for 8 vs Derbyshire
(Kenway 101, Pothas 112*)
Nik Pothas' undefeated ton was the main feature of a rain-restricted day, and Hampshire will probably declare immediately after reaching 400 and full batting points tomorrow. Thereafter, they will fancy their chances of twice dismissing the visitors to maintain their excellent start to the season.
Glamorgan 274 vs Nottinghamshire
(Hemp 82, Powell 53, Sidebottom 5 for 86)
Glamorgan continued where they left off at the end of
Day 1, and lost a flurry of quick wickets before a last wicket recovery took them to a respectable total. Notts will be delighted with Ryan Sidebottom's first five-for since joining them from Yorkshire, but Glamorgan will be expecting great things from Simon Jones tomorrow. If the rain stays away, this could be an interesting contest.
