Leicestershire v Nottinghamshire at Leicester


A captain's innings of 68 by Jason Gallian has lead Nottinghamshire to a 43 run win over Leicesterchire at Leicester. Nottinghamshire won the toss and elected to bat first. Gallian's 68, plus a string of 40's and 30's by Kevin Pietersen, David Hussey, Chris Read and Mark Ealham took the visitors to 252-5 off their alloted 45 overs. West Indies veteran Ottis Gibson was the pick of the home bowlers with 2-27 off 7 overs.

South African quick Greg Smith and Mark Ealham took three quick wickets between them to leave Leicestershire at 13-3. Despite a defiant 64 to Jeremy Snape and a well made 37 to Paul Nixon, wasn't enough for Leicestershire to crash to 209 all out and lose by 43 runs. Smith was the pick of the visitors with 3-17.

Scotland v Middlesex at Edinburgh

A rapid fire unbeaten 107 by Andy Strauss wa the shining light in Middlesex's 9 wicket win over Scotland at Edinburgh. Scotland batted first and made their way to a competitive 218-5 off their 45 overs with Sridharan Sriram making an unbeaten 88. Lance Klusener was the pick of the Middlesex bowlers with 2-31.

Paul Weekes and Strauss got off to a flying start with a 196 run partnership for the first wicket before Sririam had broken through dismissing Weekes caught by James Brinkley for 83 off 81 balls. Strauss soon brought up his ton off 78 balls.

Middlesex 221-1(/b> (28 overs; Strauss 107*, Weekes 83; Sriram 1-30)

Result: Middlesex won by 9 wickets

Worcestershire v Durham at Worcester

Thrilling centuries by Marcus North (110), and Paul Collingwood (102*) and a solid 65 by Nicky Peng as Durham who batted first, made their way to 319-3. No prizes for guessing that all the Worcester bowlers took a hammering. David Leatherdale was the pick with 2-71.

Worcester were reduced to 90-6, before Steve Rhodes (71*) and Stephen Moore (51) gave the score some respectability, but it wasn't enough as Worcester crashed to 225-8 and a defeat by 94 runs.

Yorkshire v Sussex at Leeds

A Phil Jaques century was the shining light in Yorkshire's 5 wicket win Sussex at Leeds. Sussex batted first and made 267-9 with a spate of run outs to wards the end ruining Sussex's chances of a higher total. Matt Prior (72), Murrary Goodwin (64), and Chris Adams (56) were the highest scores in Sussex's total.

Jaques century (105) off 87 balls, plus 40's by Matt Lumb and Anthony McGrath as Yorkshire won with four balls to spare.
