Shane Bond out of first Test

Facing a selection dilemma between Chris Martin and Shane Bond for the opening Test between New Zealand and England at Lords on Thursday, Bond has been ruled out to injury.
Despite suffering a career threatening stress fracture in his back and hardly playing any cricket for 12 months, Bond's selection was akin to buying a lottery ticket.
A lack of match fitness and the fatigue, muscle stiffness was the fracture in ruling him out of the first Test. However, he is on track for the second Test.
In some good news for the Black Caps, Stephen Fleming is practically a certainty for the Lords Test match.
