CC1: Anderson and Keedy hurt Worcs
Saturday, May 15 2004Manchester: Lancashire v Worcestershire
Anderson and Keedy unstoppable as Worcs crumble
The first morning was Worcester's - and that was as good as it got. James Anderson (6-49) and left-arm spinner Graham Keedy (4-20) made short work of the middle order and tail early on day two, before the partnership that sent Worcester out of the match.
Carl Hooper (100) and Iain Sutcliffe (95) added 168 in just under four hours as Lancashire - helped by lower order contributions from Glenn Chapple, Mal Loye and Warren Hegg posted 305, impressive given the match situation.
Worcester's chase of 347 never looked like approaching being close as the Anderson and Keedy double act put in an encore performance, Anderson enjoying his first career 10-wicket match, with Keedy taking nine - Glenn Chapple the man spoiling the party.
What price a repeat performance from the two Lancs bowlers for England against New Zealand next week?

Off-spinner Malik was the only man to break through in the Northants reply, removing both openers, but 73* from Martin van Jaarsveld cut the overnight deficit to 24.

Surrey collapse before Butcher replies

Giles starred with 3-55 and both Hogg and Mark Wagh took two each to dismiss Surrey for 302 despite Jon Batty's 92*. Mark Butcher found form second time round after a first innings duck to reach the close on 114* as Surrey cut the lead to just one run.
