Dawood's day
Monday, May 10 2004After a full day lost yesterday, this match was always heading to a draw, but Ismail Dawood livenend up the afternoon with an impressive display as the students comfortably batted out the game.
Resuming on 215-2, Leicestershire lost a wicket before play even started, as Darren Maddy decided he couldn't be bothered to carry on and retired. After that the innings meandered it's way through 25 overs before the declaration, only John Sadler registering a decent score.
The students were soon reduced to 29-2 by the opening bowling of John Dakin and David Masters before Dawood took control, hammering 12 fours and a six in an innings of 90 in 95 balls. The fact that no other man made more than 19 was irrelevant as the draw was easily secured in the face of some indifferent bowling.
Leicestershire 293-5
Maunders 106, Maddy 66, Sadler 43*, Glover 3-66
Bradford/Leeds UCCE 182-6
Dawood 90, Dagnall 2-31, Masters 2-47
