Sussex Hit The Ground Running
Tuesday, March 30 2004Sussex County Cricket Club, the 2003 County Champions hit the ground running today with a solid start to their season with the first pre-season game of the summer v Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire were in deep trouble until the new winter signings Mark Ealham and David Alleyne starred for Nottinghamshire on the first day of the pre-season opener against the County Champions (Sussex).
With the exception of Jason Gallian's 19, the Notts top order struggled for form requiring the two winter signings to push the total towards respectability.
Ealham's experience proved invaluable while Alleyne hit the ground running after his winter of club cricket in Australia.
A Harris and Paul Franks also contributed 21 each in a disappointing total.
Harris quickly found his form with the ball too claiming the first wicket before the home team's score had reached double figures.
Sussex v Notts - Day 1 of 2
