Bryan Strang banned by ZCU

Saturday, March 27 2004

Left-arm medium-pacer Bryan Strang, who was looking to make a come back from injury, has been banned by the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU).

Strang, who has played 26 Tests and 45 ODIs for the country between 1995 and 2001, hasn't played a single match since due to a career threatening injury.

Strang recently announced that he is fully fit, and will return to action in the Logan Cup, Zimbabwe's domestic first-class competition.

However, the ZCU has banned Strang ahead of it, on the fact that last year he was one of a group of players who argued that Zimbabwe should not be allowed to host matches during the 2003 World Cup on moral grounds.

Strang had also alleged a ZCU official of racism, thus risking his chances.
