Hollioake Hammers Hampshire

Sunday, July 4 2004

Adam Hollioake turned in an inspirational all round performance to help Surrey beat Hampshire.

The former captain hit 4 sixes and 3 fours in his unbeaten 44 from only 19 balls, whilst another former England player, Mark Raprakash, hit 7 sixes and 3 fours in his unbeaten 76 from 42 balls. The pair put on 90 unbroken runs to ease their side to 198-5 from their 20 overs.

Hollioake then turned destroyer with the ball, picking up a sensational 5-34 to go with his 4 wickets from the Friday night game, as Hampshire were never in sight of their hosts, ending up well short of the target.

SURREY 198-5 [Ramprakash 76*(42), Butcher 53(38), Hollioake 44*(19), Bruce 3-21(4)] beat HAMPSHIRE 167-9 [Mascarehnhas 47(36), Udal 37(26), Hollioake 5-34(4), Doshi 0-23(4)] by 31 runs.
