Hussey shines in run fest
Saturday, April 17 2004Often over the past few seasons have we seen this sort of headline, but this time it's a little different.
The Hussey in question is not Mike, but his younger brother David, who hammered 9 fours and 6 sixes in an unbeaten 90 ball 107.
With half centuries added by 4 of the other 5 men to bat (Drren Bicknell the odd one out, falling 2nd ball for 1), the county side were able to declare after scoring at just about 5 an over, former England Under 19 captain Paul McMahon conceding 103 runs from just 16 overs and opening bowler Tim Linley 101 from 21.
In contrast, the students scored at a little over 1 an over in the 14 overs they had before the close, losing a wicket to Greg Smith.
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 396-4 (Hussey 107*, Gallian 89, Warren 67, Pietersen 62, Ealham 52*, Linley 3-101)
OXFORD UCCE 15-1.
