Australia's Zimbabwe tour on

Saturday, April 17 2004

Despite the on-going crisis in Zimbabwe's cricket, Australia will go ahead with their tour of the country in May.

According to Cricket Australia, the tour won't be affected because of the current collision between ZCU and 13 players, for they are concerned only with security, which they are quite happy with.

Graeme Vimpani, spokesman for Cricket Australia said, "We fully support the ICC's future tours program, which requires all ICC Test-playing nations to play each other home and abroad at least once every five years, so we have a bigger picture in mind I guess and, as I said, safety and security are our primary concern. Should we ever feel that the safety and security of the touring group is ever going to be compromised, that's when we would seriously look at not touring."

Australia are scheduled to play two Tests and three One-Day Internationals in Zimbabwe.
