McGrath to join Middlesex
Sunday, June 20 2004Australia's most successful fast bowler Glenn McGrath has signed a contract with English county Middlesex to join them as their overseas player, while Lance Klusener is away on international duty for South Africa, from mid-July.
McGrath will be available for four County Championship matches, as well as five Totesport League One-Day games, from July 16, when he arrives at the Lord's-based county.
McGrath, who had been sidelined from all cricket for a year after undergoing a surgery, made his comeback on Australia's tour of Zimbabwe. However, he wasn't his usual self, as he managed only one wicket in the three One-Day Internationals.
Meanwhile, Middlesex have named Ed Joyce as their interim captain while Andrew Strauss is away playing for England, replacing Owais Shah, as a result of a series of poor performances this season.
