Lara/Rampaul power WI past Ireland
Friday, June 18 2004Lara (106 off 99 balls) scorched a century, but received very little support with the bat in the first England tour fixture for the West Indies, against Ireland. Only Dwayne Bravo (45 off 76) gave any significant assistance to Lara and the West Indies closed at 242 all out in 46.2 overs.
The Irish chase was never really on, slipping to 47/3, 71/5 and ultimately 146 all out. Kyle McCallan topscored with 32 (53 balls). Of the West Indian bowlers, Ravi Rampaul snared 3/25, Ian Bradshaw 2/22 and Chris Gayle 2/12. Sammy (1/28) and Lawson (1/30) were the other wickettakers.
