Durham v Glamorgan, Chester-le-Street
Glamorgan cruise to victory inside 3 days
A solid if unspectacular performance was responsible for Glamorgan polishing off inside three days at the Riverside yesterday. Starting the day on 77-2, they pressed home their first innings advantage and increased their already burgeoning lead to the tune of 265-9 before a declaration left Durham the best part of a day and a half to compile the requisite 439 for victory.
The home reply never seemed to get going following the early dismissal of North, leg before to Harrison for just 9. Skipper Jonathan Lewis made a half century in a little under two hours but carelessly lost five partners in the process as the Durham batsmen got in, got going and got out rather too rapidly from the perspective of the scorer's pencil-sharpener.
When Lewis went, one of five victims for Alex Wharf, Andrew Pratt cracked ten boundaries in a rapid-fire 59 within the defiant death-throes of the home innings, but it was to no avail as three wickets by Robert Croft spun Glamorgan to victory with 201 runs and a whole day to spare.
Glamorgan 393
Powell 124, Croft 81, Kumar 3-78, Davies 3-95
and 265-9
Maynard 54*, Collingwood 3-49
Durham 220
Muchall 93, Harrison 5-75
and 237
A Pratt 59, Lewis 51, Wharf 5-93
Glamorgan beat Durham by 201 runs. Glamorgan 21 points, Durham 4 points.

Essex v Leicestershire, Chelmsford
Foster hard on the heels of Hodge
James Foster became the third centurion of the innings, following hard on the heels of Jefferson and Cook, when he went to three figures for just the third time in his career on a wicket which had seamers and spinners alike tearing their hair out.
Coming in at 326-4 following the early loss of William Jefferson (128) and Andy Flower (22), he and Aftab Habib took Essex level with Leicestershire's first innings 510 before Habib departed to the bowling of DeFreitas, just three runs short of a century of his own.
Darren Gough played a bright and breezy half century knock which included a couple of sixes as Essex pressed on and in the process rendered a Leicestershire victory highly unlikely. At stumps, Essex held the luxury of a 165 lead with three first innings wickets still to fall and with Foster sitting pretty on 179. With just a day to go, though, it will need some inspired bowling to extract any result other than a draw from this game.
Leicestershire 510
Hodge 240, Robinson 56, Middlebrook 3-117, Danish Kaneria 3-139
Essex 665-7
Foster 179*, Jefferson 128, Cook 126, DeFreitas 3-119

Yorkshire v Nottinghamshire, Leeds
Notts win at a canter
Nottinghamshire continued to dominate this game against local rivals Yorkshire, thanks largely to an excellent all-round bowling performance and in the process earned a crushing victory inside three days.
Starting day 3 on their second innings 194-4, already a massive 423 runs ahead of a sorry home side and with David Hussey one short of a century, there was only ever going to be one winner in this game. Hussey duly completed his hundred and pressed on to a run-a-ball 125 before he became the first of three victims for Tim Bresnan.
A typical crash-bang cameo by Mark Ealham, 34 in 31 balls with four boundaries and a couple of maximums prompted the declaration, leaving Yorkshire with the small matter of compiling 499 for victory.
Once more, the frailties in the Yorkshire batting line-up were exposed as for the second time in the match, no home batsman managed to register a solitary half-century. Three got close this time with White, Jaques and Dawson making it beyond 40, but the Nottinghamshire attack was altogether too potent as they shared the wickets evenly between them.
When Stuart MacGill finally removed a defiant Bresnan, stumped by England discard Chris Read, Yorkshire had slumped to 254 all out with fully a day to go, losing by the small matter of 244 runs.
Nottinghamshire 393
Pietersen 167, Read 59
and 269-8 dcl
Hussey 125, Warren 55, Bresnan 3-57
Yorkshire 164
MacGill 4-54, Sidebottom 3-19
and 254
MacGill 3-55, Franks 3-62
Nottinghamshire beat Yorkshire by 244 runs. Nottinghamshire 21 points, Yorkshire 3 points
