Bangladesh v WICB XI : Day 2
Tuesday, May 25 2004Behind centuries from Sylvester Joseph and Dwayne Bravo, their respective fourth at FC level, the WICB XI moved firmly into the driver's seat of the tour match against visiting Bangladesh. Resuming on 82/2 after a rain-affected opening day, the WICB XI advanced to 320/5 declared, then knocked over three quick Bangladeshi wickets before the tourists recovered to 124/4 at stumps.
Joseph (dropped on 89 and 92) hit 15 fours and a six in his innings of 115 and Bravo hit 7 fours in an even 100. The two put on 212 runs for the third wicket. When they were parted, Dwayne Smith (9) was bowled playing across the line to Emanul Haque, then Baugh and Omari Banks saw the innings to the close with an unbeaten 64-run stand.
Baugh hit a breezy 52 from 53 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes and Banks supported with 2 fours in his 17.
In their reply, disaster came swiftly for Bangladesh, Collymore dismissing Javed Omar and Rajin Saleh for ducks - 0/2. Hannan Sarkar then departed to Jermaine Lawson for 1 and the making of a collapse were in place at 4/3. However, on this day Mohammed Ashraful (67 not out) and Faisal Hossain (43) repaired the damage, the latter dropped twice during his 87-ball knock. Dave Mohammed (1/24) eventually got the wicket of Hossain.
At stumps, Alok Kapali stood on 9 not out with the incumbent Ashraful, Bangladesh still trailing by some 196 runs on first innings and a day to go.
