When it rains, it pours
Thursday, April 29 2004Rain once again played the starring role in the One Day International series between England and the West Indies. This time the scene shifted to Grenada, where heavy showers yesterday morning, continuing into the afternoon, left a full game of cricket completely out of the question.
First inspection was done at 5 pm on Tuesday, and upon the second inspection this morning at 10 am, the game was called off without a ball being bowled. This is the third consecutive washout of the series, after the first ODI was reduced to 30 overs per side also due to rain.
With the forecasts poor for the remaining three matches and the WICB having already had to refund 2.5 million dollars on the weekend, the series looks to be a huge loss for cricket fans all around.
