Ealham's assault seals Notts win
Thursday, July 8 2004TWENTY20 CUP - 7TH JULY 2004
NORTH DIVISION
Leicestershire vs Durham
An unbeaten partnership of 80 between Jon Lewis & Gordon Muchall allowed Durham to reach 138 for 4. This looked like an inadequate total, but an outstandingopening spell of 4 for 7 by Neil Killeen effectively decided the game, and Gareth Breese finished things off with 4 for 14 to seal a 41 run victory for the visitors.
Nottinghamshire vs Yorkshire
Yorkshire must have thought they were home and dry when an unbeaten 96 from Matt Wood took them to 207 for 7 and then Steve Kirby’s two quick wickets helped reduce Nottinghamshire to 56 for 4. Instead, a blistering innings from mark Ealham of 91 from only 35 balls led an astonishing recovery which saw the hosts win by three wickets with only a ball to spare.
SOUTH DIVISION
The two scheduled games were both abandoned without a ball being bowled, so the points were shared between Essex & Surrey and Middlesex & Sussex.
