TWENTY20 CUP

NORTH DIVISION

Leicestershire vs Nottinghamshire
Leicestershire moved to the top of the North Division after their 40-run win. Their total of 150 looked inadequate until Dagnall claimed four quick wickets, including the prize scalp of Pietersen first ball. After that, Notts never came close, despite a breezy 26 from Chris Read.

Durham vs Derbyshire
Derbyshire moved into third place with a vital win over Durham. Batting first, Durham struggled to 117 but took wickets regularly enough to stay in the game. However, useful knocks from Moss (33) and Bryant (41) paved the way for a four wicket win with an over and a half to speare.

MIDLANDS/WEST/WALES DIVISION

Somerset vs Worcestershire
The only game in this division saw Somerset win by 34 runs. Their total of 178 owed much to aggressive knocks from their middle order of Dutch (47), Hildreth (51) and Francis (31). Worcestershire quickly lost their first four batsmen to Laraman and, although Leatherdale and Bichel then added 101, they never gained enough momentum to seriously challenge Somerset’s total.

SOUTH DIVISION

Hampshire vs Middlesex
Hampshire kept their hopes alive with a 30 run win. Their total of 170 was thanks to rapid innings from Clarke (46) and Mascarenhas (52). In reply, Middlesex made a reasonable start but then lost wickets to regularly to stay in contention.

Kent vs Sussex
Kent dumped Sussex out of this year’s competition with a comfortable 47 run victory. Walker (48*) and Key (35) led the way as they reached 163. Sussex started well but then fell away badly, regularly losing wickets as they folded meekly for 116.
