Monday, January 19 2004Carib Beer Cup 2004
Round 2
Day 2 West Indies 'B' vs Trinidad and Tobago at Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
Trinidad and Tobago pushed on nicely due to the brilliant batting Dwayne Bravo. Continuing from 24/3, Aneil Kanhai (10) was dismissed early, caught behind by Jason Bennett. Shazam Babwah then joined Bravo and the two added a good 102 runs with aggressive strokeplay before Bennett returned his fourth wicket, having Babwah (30) trapped in front, playing across the line.
This dismissal brought together the partnership of the game to date. Wicketkeeper Gibran Mohammed played a tame supporting role to the flamboyant Bravo as the two put on 126 runs to the close. Bravo charged on toward his 150 and brought it up with the same scoring shot that he helped T&T to a first innings lead with.
At the close of play Bravo stood at 168 unbeaten with Gibran Mohammed on 34. The score is 263 - a lead of 25 runs - going into the third day of the round two matchup. So far Bennett has been a mixed bag. Early on he bowled superbly, but fell away rather badly to go for runs as the day progressed. Still, he has decent figures of 21.2-2-82-4.
Play was ended early due light showers.
