Round 2
Day 1 West Indies 'B' vs Trinidad and Tobago at Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
The West Indies 'B' team fought back late to take a slight advantage into the second day of the second round fixture against Trinidad and Tobago. After collapsing dramatically from a lunchtime position of 81/1, the West Indies 'B' team went to tea at 173/5. Two wickets fell in the final over before the tea break, both to left-arm spinner Amit Jaggernauth.
The innings started disastrously after the 'B's were inserted, with Jason Haynes run out for a duck. Ryan Ramdass and Lendl Simmons then held the innings together with Simmons' flamboyant strokeplay exciting the crowd and impressing many. Eventually however, Simmons ran himself out for a well-played 59.
Ramdass continued and took his time whilst batting for the most part, but launching a massive six over midwicket. He moved to 91 before playing loosely outside his offstump to grant Reyad Emrit his first wicket. Dinesh Ramdin (6) didn't last very long and the innings slumped sharply before a lusty last-wicket stand helped the score to 238 all out.
In reply the Trinbagonian effort was off the a poor start as well, with Imran Jan caught at gully for 5 off the bowling of Jason Bennett. With the very next ball Bennett trapped Kenton Thompson LBW for a first ball duck on debut. Things only got worse as Tishan Maraj was run out just before the close. At stumps Trinidad and Tobago stands at 24/3 with Dwayne Bravo (10 not out) and Aneil Kanhai, the overnight batsmen.

Day 1 Kenya v the Leeward Islands at the Valley, Anguilla.
Kenya rebounded magnificently from an embarrassing first round defeat at the hands of the West Indies 'B' team, to finish day one of their second round fixture at 360/3. Batting with complete ease and confidence, Ravindu Shah (99) and Kennedy Obuya (54) opened the innings after Kenya was sent in.
The score was taken comfortably to 117/0 at lunch and 195/3 at tea. After tea the Tikolo/Odumbe partnership thrived and at stumps both men stand approaching hundreds. Tikolo is just 6 runs short of his fourth FC century and Maurice Odumbe (74 not out) approaches his second.
On a day so thoroughly dominated by the bat, Wilden Cornwall was the statistical pick of the day with figures of 2/98.

After tea however, another collapse occurred. This one saw 6 wickets fall for 62 runs as the innings completed at a modest 222 all out. Spinners Ryan Cunningham (3/39) and Gareth Breese (2/28) combined for half the wickets to fall, with Dave Bernard Jr. (3/41) also getting tidy figures.

Day 1 The Windward Islands v Barbados at Crab Hill, Barbados.
Even without Bradshaw, Hurley and Wilkinson (WI duty), Barbados continued in fine form to dominate their Windward Island opponents on the opening day of their second round matchup. Sent in to bat, the Bajan pace attack had the Windward batsmen in all sorts of trouble as they shot them out for just 113 runs between them.
The real tell-tale sign of how poorly the innings went is that Junior Murray scored an unbeaten 57 of the total. Discarded West Indies pacers, Tino Best (4/33) and Pedro Collins (3/28) continued good starts to the 2004 season with good hauls. Left-arm spinner, Sulieman Benn also chipped in nicely with 2/28.
In reply, Barbados reached 82/3 at stumps. Of the runs talented opening batsman Martin Nurse scored 31.
