Butcher collapses injured v Jamaica

Wednesday, March 3 2004

Mark Butcher was stretchered off the field against Jamaica, after he went down whilst fielding. When moving in to field a gentle roller at mid-off, Butcher stopped and collapsed to the ground, holding his ankle.

It is not certain what the nature of the injury is, but he was taken for precautionary X-rays. Butcher is one of only three (Thorpe and Hussain the others) of the current touring side who have featured in the West Indies before.

The first Test begins on the 11th of March.
