Sunday, March 7 2004Wellington v Canterbury at Wellington
Wellington pressed home their adavtange in taking out the 2003/04 State Championship. Wellington were quickly bowled out for 301 with Matt Walker making unbeaten 84. Ashley Turner was the last man dismissed for a patient 16 off 105 balls. Turner was caught behind by Brendon McCullum off the bowling of Chris Martin. Martin finished with figures of 36-10-5-101.
James Franklin broke through with the score on 12, with Shannan Stewart caught by Matt Walker for 2 off 32 balls. Peter Fulton came in and put on 107 for the second wicket before Walker dissmissed Fulton caught by Bell for 58. The rest of the middle order didnt offer much support with Michael Papps before Walker dissmissed him for 91 caught behind by Nevin.
Canterbury were struggling at 196-7, before Warren Wisneski scored a entertaining 33 off 49 balls before Franklin bowled him. Stephen Cunis remains unbeaten at stumps with 35 off 41 balls. Chris Harris remains unbeaten on 18. Franklin returned figures of 22-4-56-4. Canterbury finished at 283-8 with a lead of 109 runs.
