Andrew Penn retires

Thursday, March 11 2004

Andrew Penn today announced his retirement from first class cricket after a season of injury and frustration.

Following an early season injury he struggled to regain his place in the Wellington lineup and following an agreement with the law firm he works for he won't be playing representative cricket again.

Penn's career stats make good reading. He finished up with 252 first class wickets from 66 games at an average of 23.03 while he averaged 18.49 with bat with a highest score of 90.

His limited overs stats are 88 wickets from 60 games at an average of 25.48 with a batting average of 14.75.

He played 5 ODIs for New Zealand in his career that he'd probably like to forget in going for 201 runs from 26 overs and finishing up with just one wicket.
