Auckland v N.Districts at Auckland

Northern took the upper hand on day 3 by taking a first innings lead of 105 runs in their first innings score of 388. At stumps Auckland are 123-4 - a lead of 18 runs and with six wickets in hand.

Mark Orchard top scored with 97 in their innings of 388, for Auckland Brooke Walker took 3-60. Matt Hart (46), Joseph Yovich (40 and Robbie Hart (32) were all major contributors in Northern's innings.

Graeme Aldridge and Ian Butler took two wickets apiece and took 4-9 in one spell as Auckland slumped from 25-0 to 34-4. Matt Horne (53*) and Aaron Barnes (36*) saved Auckland from embarrassment.

Otago v Canterbury at Alexandra


Otago made the best possible start to the day's play by dismissing Chris Harris straight away. Otago dismissed Canterbury for 219 with Brad Harvie and and Warren McSkimming taking three wickets apiece. With the exception of Andrew Ellis (23*), no body made any real contributions after Neil Broom was dismissed for 41.

With a lead of 117, and with Otago looking to push on, Canterbury had other ideas dismissing Otago for 143, giving them a 260 run lead. Gareth Hopkins (50) top scored in a disappointing batting effort with Wisenski taking 4-45.

In reply, Canterbury are 78-4, trailing by 182 runs with six wickets in hand. Opening the batting Paul Wiseman top scored with 32 and with Gary Stead not out on 30.

C.Districts v Wellington at Napier


Wellington won by 237 runs. Chasing over 400 to win on the last day, Central were never in with a chance after being reduced to 57-4. Central were eventually bowled out for 197.

Ross Taylor top scored with 66 in a disaapointing innings were the next highest score was 23 by Andrew Schwass. The rest made it over into double digits, but never lasted to 20. Mark Gillespie took 4-71 and with two apiece to Ian O'Brien and James Franklin for Wellington.
