Murali may not tour Australia

Wednesday, February 18 2004

Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah is apparently considering to drop out of his country's tour to Australia in July, due to his dissatisfaction with crowd behaviour.

Murali's action was called into question during the past two tours of Sri Lanka to Australia, first by Darrell Hair in 1995-96 and then by Ross Emerson in 1998-99. This resulted in most of the fans chanting "no-ball" even before he bowled a ball, on several occasions.

Murali however stressed that his dissatisfaction lay primarily with the Australian crowds, and not with the cricket establishment there.

Murali is currently placed third on the list of all-time highest wicket-takers with 485 scalps.

Sri Lanka are due to play two Test Matches in Australia in July.
