Tuesday, February 24 2004Auckland v Northern at Auckland
The match ended in a draw after Northern fell eight runs short of a well deserved victory over Auckland. Matt Horne scored an unbeaten 200 to give him a century in each innings and a unbeaten century to Aaron Barnes put together a partnership of 337 for the 5th wicket as Auckland declared at 381-4 - a lead of 276.
James Marshall (77) and Nick Horsley (75) put together a opening stand of 156 before Auckland struck back taking 113-8 and fell 8 runs short of Victory and Auckland fell two wickets short taking an outright win.

Otago v Canterbury at Alexandra
Otago won by 108 runs. Chasing 260 to win, Canterbury resumed at 78-4, and lost Gary Stead with the score on 80. The loss of regular wickets reduced Canterbury to 97-8, before some rearguard action from a wagging tail got Canterbury up to 152.
Brad Scott and Warren McSkimming took three wickets apiece and with Brad Harvie taking 2 wickets. The win for Otago is a massive upset considering Canterbury's strong form.
