Rain halts B'desh slide
Sunday, February 29 2004Rain was once again the theme of the day in the second Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe as the third day allowed for only 37.1 overs of play. Still, the home side managed to make the most of the time played and left Bangladesh struggling at 88/5 at the premature close.
Having been inserted, the openers Hannan Sarkar (25) and Shahriar Hossain (31) started well and added 64 for the first wicket, until Ervine (2/26) struck, then Streak (1/16) dismissed his opposite number for 4.
Ervine bowled Sarkar and Hondo and Friend accounted for Saleh (6) and Ashraful (1) before the close. Mohammed Islam Rana (5 not out) and Mushfiqur Rahman (0 not out) will presumably resume tomorrow with much work to be done.
Match Summary:
Bangladesh 1st innings 88/5 (37.1 overs)
(Shahriar Hossain 31, Hannan Sarkar 25)
(SM Ervine 2/26, HH Streak/DT Hondo/TJ Friend 1 each)
