BCCI to award bonus to players
Wednesday, February 4 2004The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that each member of the team currently touring Australia will receive a bonus for the team's stupendous performance on the tour.
India tied the 4 Test series 1-1, which included a win the 2nd Test Match in Adelaide. India has also won 5 of the 8 league matches played in the VB series, comfortably making it to the Finals to take on Australia.
According to The Times of India, each player will receive a bonus of Rs. 2-5 lakhs. This also includes coach John Wright, trainer Gregory Allen King and physiotherapist Andrew Leipus. However, Bruce Reid will not receive a bonus, for his contractual obligations as a bowling coach have been taken care of.
The last time Indian players received a hefty bonus was for their performance in the World Cup, after which each player found himself Rs. 25 lakh richer.
