Winning the toss, Australia 'A' batted first with 'a' batsmen Michel Hussey and Chris Rogers - both of Western Australia, put on 119 before captain Sourav Ganguly dismissed Rogers for 70. With the score on 204, Ashish Nehra dismissed Michael Hussey for 67. 3 runs later Nehra bowled in-form Brad Hodge for 1.
Martin Love played well for 94 before cutting a ball too close from Irfan Pathan and was caught behind with the score on 279. Hussey soon closed the 'A' team's innings with the score on 311-5. Ashish Nehra was the pick of the Indian bowlers.
Matt Nicolson dismissed Sadagoppan Ramesh for 4 with the score on 5. India ended the day 1 down on 37.
