No place for Croft in XI

Thursday, December 18 2003

England made just one change to the XI which held on for a draw against Sri Lanka in the second Test. James Anderson comes in for Paul Collingwood in the third and final Test which starts today at Colombo. This comes after many expected the selectors to pursue a three-pronged spin attack for the decider.

For Sri Lanka, Dharmasena and Dinusha Fernando make way for Upul Chandana and Dilhara Fernando.

England has won the toss and Michael Vaughan has elected to bat.

The full XI's are as follows:

Sri Lanka
Marvan Atapattu, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Hashan Tillakaratne, Thilan Samaraweera, Upul Chandana, Chaminda Vaas, Dilhara Fernando, Muttiah Muralitharan.

England
Michael Vaughan, Marcus Trescothick, Mark Butcher, Graham Thorpe, Nasser Hussain, Andrew Flintoff, Chris Read, Gareth Batty, Ashley Giles, James Kirtley, James Anderson.
