Nehra to miss rest of the series

Wednesday, March 17 2004

Indian left-arm paceman Ashish Nehra will miss the rest of the one-day international series against Pakistan, after he split the webbing in his left hand while fielding off his own bowling, in the second match of the series in Rawalpindi today (Tuesday).

Nehra required two stitches on his bowling hand, and has thus been ruled out for the remainder of the matches.

Nehra was a doubtful starter for the match due to a sore ankle, however was included in the playing eleven at the last minute after passing a fitness test.

The Indian squad for the three-Test series, which begins on 28 March, is expected to be picked next week. Nehra expectedly will recover by that time.
