Read out of ODI squad
Tuesday, May 27 2003The Nottinghamshire wicket-keeper, seen by many as the natural successor to Alec Stewart as England glove-man, was widely tipped to be named in the squad for the forthcoming NatWest Challenge against Pakistan.
Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said "It's really bad luck for Chris, because he has made a excellent start to the season.
"I believe if he was fit he would have been named as England wicketkeeper - and I hope once the thumb heals he will be involved in the national set-up."
Other wicket-keepers likely to be in the frame are James Foster, who last played for England in the Melbourne test against Australia, and the in-form Luke Sutton who has scored a couple of centuries already this season.
