SL Adopt Split Captains

Sri Lanka have become the latest country to adopt a policy of split captains, with Hashan Tillakaratne being announced as Test captain while Marvan Atapattu has been appointed ODI captain.

Tillakaratne, 35, will lead the Test side ahead of the original captaincy favourite Marvan Atapattu.

Atapattu, meanwhile, must take consolation with his appointment as ODI captain following the resignation of Sanath Jayasuriya from both posts.

Selectors stated, however, that Atapattu will succeed Tillakaratne in the Test post.

Both have captaincy experience for the national side.
