Adam Dale Retires

Saturday, April 12 2003

Former Australian swing bowler Adam Dale has retired from first-class cricket.

34-year-old Dale has struggled in recent years with a shoulder industry and his retirement will pave the way for Queensland to continue to develop their young fast bowlers Ashley Noffke, Scott Brant, Damien MacKenzie and Mitchell Johnson.

The Victorian-born Queenslander played 2 Test matches, taking 6 wickets while collecting 32 wickets in 30 ODI matches.

While Dale was a handy first-class bowler, his nagging line-and-length made him an attractive proposition in the shorter form of the game.

Dale's last match was Queensland's Pura Cup Final loss in March.
