Maher Joins Squad

Queensland captain Jimmy Maher has been sent to the West Indies to act as reserve wicket keeper behind Adam Gilchrist.

While Maher is clearly not the second best gloveman in the country, his selection seems logical due to the fact that he is a certainty for the yet-to-be announced ODI squad.

He will play in the three-day match against the University of West Indies XI starting on April 26.

Maher's call-up to the senior squad forces him to miss the remainder of the Australia 'A' series, with Simon Katich the new captain of the 'A' side. No replacement batsman has been named.
