Vettori has lucky escape

Daniel Vettori escaped serious injury on Monday after a head on collision with Sri Lankan fielder Marvan Atapattu while attemping a quick single in New Zealand's first innings of the 2nd test against Sri Lanka in Kandy.

Vettori and Atapattu were rushed to hospital but were soon discharged and cleared of any broken bones.

Atapattu was reported to have a minor neck injury and mild concussion as a result of the collision.

Vettori was back on the field for New Zealand's 2nd innings but was dismissed for a duck being bowled by Muralitharan.
